Winter refit update Oct 2024

The head-to-toe (or rather, fore-to-aft) overhaul of Ata Rangi is coming to an end as she splashed back in the water on Friday, 11th of October. Of course, no boat refit could be completed without a couple of hiccups or delays, and we know that Barns and the team are happy to be on the final stretch with the finish line in sight. Ata Rangi spent a week in Auckland finishing the installation of the new AV Systems with Global Marine before heading to her home in the Bay of Islands to complete recommissioning.

Alongside the big-ticket items such as a full repaint, new air-conditioning units, new teak decking and interior carpet, she has undergone a number of engineering and aesthetic upgrades including…

An upgraded IT and AV system including new TVs and sound system
Synthetic teak decking to replace the carpet in the sky bridge
Overhaul of the davit
Saloon door mechanism upgrade
New paneling in the flybridge ceiling to reduce impact from humidity
Seakeeper gyro servicing
New bedding soft furnishing
And more

During the refit process, the crew have enjoyed some holiday time as well as time spent working in different roles. Captain Barns has been very involved in the refit process, while chef-steward Chelsea has been working in the Auckland Cooper and Company assisting with the administration and marketing of Ata Rangi.
